Looking for help with real estate-related legal issues?

Do you have questions about negotiating a house purchase, a mortgage, or a problem with your landlord? These free guides provide current and accurate information about your legal rights and about the issues you should consider. They can help you feel prepared to take the next step, including making a call to a lawyer.

Present on real estate to high school students

The programs below are perfect for virtual online or in-class learning. The ppt presentation includes vibrant visuals that deepen the lessons and engage students – even through a webcast. It is available with speaking notes to help you navigate the material.

Our school outreach program helps you inform students about the role of law and lawyers in your community. We can provide you with a lively and informative PowerPoint presentation entitled “How Do I Buy That House?” that gives a basic understanding of buying, selling, financing, or renting property. We can set you up with a school looking for a lawyer to share their knowledge.
Lawyers: For more information complete and submit this form to volunteer and receive the presentation.

Note: The one hour presentation qualifies as an eligible teaching activity for the Law Society’s CPD requirement – please report the substantive teaching hour directly on your Law Society portal. Please contact the Law Society directly for additional information.

Teachers: If you are interested in having a lawyer (whether you know one or not) come to your class and introduce students to the process, terminology, issues and roles involved in a real estate transaction, complete this survey to provide us with your information. We will then try to pair you up with an interested lawyer.

Videos and stories

To that end we have created videos and stories to help explain what lawyers do. The videos can be found on the LAWPRO YouTube channel. We also have short articles that do the same.
