Communications Counsel

We are currently seeking a Communications Counsel to join the LAWPRO Claims Prevention and Stakeholder Relations team. This is a permanent position, reporting to the Director, Communications, that presents the successful candidate with an opportunity to connect with lawyers and legal influencers across the province in a variety of areas of law.

The LAWPRO Communications Counsel will work with the Communications team to research, develop and create unique and compelling presentations, checklists, articles, videos to help lawyers avoid claims and succeed in practice.

Job specifications:

  • be licensed and in good standing as a lawyer in Canada
  • have at least four years’ related experience
  • have experience in any one or more of the following: civil litigation, corporate/commercial, bodily injury, wills & estates, tax or real estate;
  • research and write engaging articles and other resources that provide both practical and legal guidance
  • take a proactive and creative approach to developing content
  • monitor changes to the law and update existing materials to reflect those changes
  • possess engaging presentation style to confidently present CPD materials, at conferences, and in short form video presentations on legal and practical topics
  • be willing to travel throughout Ontario
  • be an exceptional writer of both technical and lay content
  • be flexible and willing to adapt to a less formal communications style than most legal writing
  • gets details right without losing sight of the big picture
  • make effective use of technology
  • embrace the vision, values and goals of the company as a whole
