PracticePRO Manager and Counsel

JOB DESCRIPTION
The PracticePRO Manager and Counsel leads and oversees PracticePRO-related functions, providing strategic direction and ensuring the successful development and delivery of risk management tools, resources and educational initiatives. This role carries significant visibility within the legal community – LAWPRO’s primary audience – and involves frequent presentations and travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership for the PracticePRO program, including planning, resource development, education, website management, professional outreach, and reporting on key issues.
- Monitor and identify emerging claims trends and risk management issues in the legal profession; design and implement new initiatives to address them.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to promote greater awareness of claims prevention and to advance LAWPRO’s risk management programs.
- Support and guide lawyers in managing professional risks and adapting effectively to an evolving practice environment.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will bring a combination of legal experience, strategic insight, and leadership ability. Specifically, the successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Comprehensive understanding of the legal profession and its evolving landscape, gained through significant experience, leadership and/or progressively responsible positions in a law firm and/or related legal environment;
- Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage effectively with lawyers, professional associations and other key stakeholders.
- Proven leadership ability, including experience mentoring or developing teams.
- Strong project management skills, from concept development through to successful implementation.
- Self-motivation, creativity and initiative to drive the program and work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and comfort presenting to professional audiences.
- Solid understanding of legal technology and its practical applications in the modern law practice.
- Flexibility to accommodate occasional travel and presentations during evenings or weekends.
- Fluency in French is considered an asset.
