Job Title: HR Compliance and Project Leader: Reporting to HR Director
(Full-time permanent)

We are looking for an HR Compliance and Project Leader with a background in management or operations, and leadership in overseeing processes and projects. This job also requires a solid understanding of compliance, which is key to our highly regulated business. We are a small HR Department and this role requires an individual with significant initiative, flexibility and energy, and leadership abilities, as well as a willingness to do extensive hands-on work. The role will be involved in some or all of the following: managing and documenting HR processes, implementation of the corporate document retention initiative in the HR department, benefits, HRIS, payroll audit, training, and other projects and initiatives.

Job Location: Toronto

The ideal candidate should:

  • have 10 years of experience as a human resources professional in a professional, financial or legal environment;
  • have a strong demonstrated interest in HR processes, technology and compliance;
  • have a strong resume with regard to leadership and project management;
  • have experience in some of the following: benefits, payroll, training, HRIS, and compliance;
  • have a university degree;
  • have coursework and/or designation in Human Resources or relevant business-related
  • fields;
  • have exceptional organizational skills and a strong focus on detail;
  • have a high level of comfort with process and structure;
  • be a very good listener and work well with the team;
  • have superior computer abilities; and
  • show an interest in keeping up with the external HR environment, including new developments and trends.

Job Title: Underwriting Counsel: Reporting to Vice President, TitlePLUS
(Permanent full-time)

LAWPRO is seeking an Underwriting Counsel for its TitlePLUS title insurance program. We are looking for an individual who is looking for an opportunity to use their legal skills in the field of title insurance, and is interested in assisting the real estate Bar across Canada.

Job Location: Toronto, Ontario

The ideal candidate should:

  • Have a law degree and be called to the Bar of Ontario or another Canadian province and a member of the provincial Law Society, or a Québec notary and a member of the Chambre des Notaires du Québec;
  • Have a strong knowledge of real estate law and practice;
  • At least two years’ experience in real estate practice, strongly preferred;
  • Have the ability to assume responsibility for underwriting decisions;
  • Have well developed verbal and written communication skills;
  • Have an interest in keeping up with developments in real estate law in all Canadian provinces;
  • Have an interest in helping the TitlePLUS program grow through contact with lawyers, Québec notaries and others;
  • Be a strong team player and a good listener;
  • Have the ability to be self-directed and well-organized, and work efficiently under pressure;
  • Have excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel, and knowledge of the TitlePLUS software, preferred;
  • Be available to work to 6:00 p.m. once a week or more often as required;
  • Bilingualism (English/French) would be an asset.
