Job Title: Administrative Clerk: Reporting to Manager, Customer Service & Underwriting
(Permanent Full-Time)

The Lawyers’ Professional Indemnity company is a Toronto-based, professional liability insurer with a mandate to provide quality insurance services to our insured lawyers. As part of achieving our mandate, we are currently recruiting for an Administrative Clerk.

The Administrative Clerk reports to the Manager, Underwriting and Customer Service Department and will provide administrative support to the Manager, Assistant Manager and Program Coordinators in the Department. This role will be responsible for, but not limited to, responding to inquiries from lawyers and law firm administrators (both via telephone and in writing), operating electronic mail systems, maintaining databases, running reports and creating action items, scanning and photocopying.

Job Location: Downtown Toronto

The ideal candidate should:

  • Have formal training in administrative skills, with a Community College/University graduate preferred;
  • Have a minimum of two (2) years experience working in an administrative role;
  • Have experience in dealing with professionals both by telephone and in writing;
  • Have good knowledge of all Microsoft office software with a minimum intermediate skill level in Microsoft Word and Excel;
  • Have excellent knowledge of Lotus Notes;
  • Have excellent time management and organizational skills;
  • Have experience working in a team environment with many deadlines and a high volume of work;
  • Be proactive in her/his approach to work, with the ability to set priorities independently;
  • Have the ability to juggle multiple high priorities simultaneously;
  • Demonstrate absolute discretion and tact when handling confidential information

Job Title: Customer Service Team Leader: Reporting to Customer Service & Underwriting Manager
(Permanent Full-Time)

The Lawyers’ Professional Indemnity Company is a Toronto-based, professional liability insurer with a mandate to provide quality insurance services to our insured lawyers. As part of achieving our mandate, we are currently recruiting a Customer Service Team Leader.

The role of the Team Leader is to handle inbound and outbound calls (including escalated calls) regarding the LAWPRO insurance policy, accounts, non-mandatory insurance products, general inquiries, etc., and to oversee and act as a resource to Customer Service Reps who are also dealing with these calls. This position also prepares written correspondence on the same matters as above, and oversees the correspondence of the CSR’s. Other key parts of the role are troubleshooting, handling special projects as they arise, mentoring and training new staff and liaising with other departments.

Job Location: Toronto

The ideal candidate should:

  • -have a relevant community college or university degree
  • -have call centre experience with a technical or complex product
  • -have customer service experience with a professional clientele
  • -have experience supervising staff
  • -have knowledge of accounting, insurance claims & underwriting
  • -have excellent computer skills
  • -have experience working in an intense high pressure environment
  • -have superior communication skills, both oral & written
  • -have detailed knowledge of the Law Society of Ontario’s insurance program (preferred)

Job Title: IT Service Desk Analyst: Reporting to Operations Manager

LAWPRO has an immediate opening for an IT Service Desk Analyst to support its internal service desk function.

Key Responsibilities:

Working under the direction of the Operations Manager, you will act as the first point of contact for end users to receive technology support;

Respond quickly and professionally to requests received through the IT ticketing system;

Collaborate with end users and technology staff to identify and troubleshoot PC and IP telephony related issues;

Assist in onboarding new employees from a technology perspective (e.g. user account creation, rights assignment);

Participate in the installation and maintenance of all PC hardware, software, and other related equipment; and

Maintain a knowledge repository to capture resolution efforts.

Job Location: Downtown Toronto

The ideal candidate should:

  • Be experienced using common IT Service Desk tools (e.g. Service Now, Remedy);
  • Have in-depth knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and Windows 7/10 operating systems;
  • Possess knowledge of basic networking troubleshooting concepts;
  • Have understanding and experience isolating hardware issues and coordinating replacements;
  • Have experience utilizing desktop imaging tools and techniques (e.g. Ghost, Macrium);
  • Have knowledge of mobile devices, management tools and techniques;
  • Have knowledge of ITIL principles (e.g., change management, incident management); and
  • Have knowledge of BlackBerry, Android, and iOS operating systems.
It is preferred that the candidate:

Have experience in any of the following technologies: Lotus Notes, Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT), VMware, System Center, McAfee EPO, Citrix, and Cisco IP Telephony;
Have a College diploma and/or University degree in a relevant area (preferred);
Have demonstrated ability and passion to learn new technologies;
Be in pursuit of education/certification and preservation of knowledge in relevant areas of skill;
Is adaptable, flexible and able to accept change;
Have strong communication skills (speaking and writing) with a “client service” attitude in order to provide effective phone, desk-side, and email support; and
Is able to meet physical demands - lifting and/or carrying ability of 15-30 lbs. or more.

Job Title: Legal Writer and Content Manager: Reporting to Director of Communications
(Permanent Full-Time)

The Legal Writer and Content Manager is a person that is fueled by storytelling and relentlessly devoted to the needs, preferences and interests of the audience. With an audience-first lens, the writer will develop content including feature articles, blog posts, checklists, fact sheets, and other materials that interest the Ontario legal profession while providing key practice management and risk management help. Taking data and turning it into compelling stories that illuminate the practical experience of law professionals is needed. We are looking for someone with an eye for and understanding of the changes the profession is facing and the opportunities they present.

The Writer and Content Manager can translate technical information into straightforward and interesting copy that informs and instructs. Cleverly turning themes and issues into editorial content including presentations, video scripts, infographs and social media content is an asset. The writer is comfortable interviewing sources, has strong writing skills, and seeks to explain the “why” of a problem, not just the “what.”

Job Location: Toronto

The ideal candidate should:

  • A journalism and/or law degree combined with relevant work experience.
  • Real-world experience in a primarily writing role for a professional audience.
  • Experience in practice or another legal setting
  • A diverse body of work demonstrating creativity and superb content sensibility with experience writing both marketing copy and editorial-style features.
  • Knowledge of law practice management and legal technologies
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, vocabulary and grammar usage, and knowledge of CP Style.
  • The ability to adopt the style, tone and voice to suit varied audiences, and to write various types of content on a wide range of topics.
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple projects with many variables, competing deadlines and moving parts.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (in particular Word, PowerPoint and Excel) WordPress, Photoshop, Campaigner an asset
  • French languageskills would be an asset

Job Title: Receptionist: Reporting to Director, Human Resources & Administration
(Permanent – Full Time)

The role of the Receptionist is to respond to and appropriately redirect incoming telephone calls and to greet and assist clients, suppliers and the public when they arrive at LAWPRO. This position also provides general administrative support as required, including ordering supplies, maintaining/updating telephone lists, entering data into Excel spreadsheets, working on Word documents, developing and posting reception coverage duty, couriering, assisting with mailings, etc.

Job Location: Downtown Toronto

The ideal candidate should:

  • have prior work experience as a receptionist, preferably in a professional environment;
  • have good knowledge of Microsoft Office software package, computer systems, and Lotus Notes;
  • have good typing speed and accuracy;
  • have patience, diplomacy and a friendly flexible mannerism are essential;
  • have strong verbal communication skills;
  • have experience working in a team environment and in stressful situations;
  • demonstrate a high level of discretion and understand when information is confidential.
