Job Title: Claims Counsel -- Specialty Claims Department: Reporting to Unit Director & Counsel
(Full-time permanent)

We are currently seeking a Claims Counsel to join the Specialty Claims Department. This is a permanent, full-time position, with an emphasis on building expertise in the area of insurance coverage. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to handle interesting cases in a variety of areas of law.

LAWPRO Claims Counsel interact with insured lawyers in investigating, evaluating, and resolving errors and omissions claims against them. In the Specialty Claims Department, they may also be called upon to handle certain TitlePLUS claims. They manage both E&O and TitlePLUS claims in-house or direct external legal counsel and professionals in resolving them.

Job Location: Toronto

The ideal candidate should:

  • understand and participate in achieving the vision, values and goals of the company as a whole;
  • have experience in civil litigation, corporate/commercial, wills & estates, and / or real estate;
  • have insurance coverage-related experience and be especially keen to develop further expertise;
  • be able to identify and implement file strategy in conjunction with external counsel and the insured, and revise strategy where necessary to achieve the desired outcome;
  • take a proactive and creative approach to claims handling;
  • have strong organizational skills and the ability to meet demanding deadlines;
  • make effective use of technology;
  • be licensed and in good standing as a lawyer in Canada.

Job Title: Program Coordinator: Reporting to Manager, Customer Service & Underwriting
(Permanent Full-Time)

The Lawyers’ Professional Indemnity company is a Toronto-based, professional liability insurer with a mandate to provide quality insurance services to our insured lawyers. As part of achieving our mandate, we are currently recruiting for a Program Coordinator.

The role of the Program Coordinator is to provide written and verbal information on the insurance program to the members of the legal profession. The information the Program Coordinator provides includes: information concerning insurance coverages for the lawyer, account information on premiums, and information on additional programs such as risk management. The successful candidate will be a high calibre individual who will receive intensive training about the program and the Company before answering any calls from the public.

Job Location: Downtown Toronto

The ideal candidate should:

  • have at least 2 years experience providing customer service in a call centre environment;
  • have strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • have experience in Microsoft Word and Excel;
  • have experience working in a team environment and in stressful situations;
  • have strong organizational skills and be used to working in volume situations;
  • have a proactive approach to work;
  • have law, underwriting, or claims related experience, preferred;
  • English/French Bilingualism is considered an asset.

Job Title: TitlePLUS, Sales Consultant: Reporting to Sales Manager, TitlePLUS
(Full Time)

TitlePLUS® title insurance, available through lawyers, provides peace of mind by offering the most comprehensive coverage generally available in the market today. TitlePLUS® title insurance is the only 100% Canadian-owned title insurance product in the market. It is a comprehensive title insurance policy, protecting buyers and lenders for title-related problems that could affect ownership or the marketability of the property in the future, and legal services provided by the lawyer closing the purchase. It was developed in 1997 by Lawyers Professional Indemnity Company (LAWPRO®) with input from real estate lawyers.

The TitlePLUS® Sales Consultant is responsible for developing, servicing and growing a title insurance sales territory of TitlePLUS® subscribed lawyers and their office staff. Achieving success will include maximizing the growth potential of the assigned field to meet sales objectives, developing strong client relationships, and collaborating with team membersto deliver a customer experience that drives satisfaction and loyalty. TitlePLUS® Head Office is located in Toronto, however this role can be based within the GTA or South Western Ontario.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:

-Meet sales objectives and targets within assigned territory

-Grow and service both new and existing customer relationships with the intent of delivering new business opportunities and increased policy sales

-Regularly prospect to generate new leads to assist in meeting individual sales goals

-Develop sales plans that identify opportunities and challenges from which strategies are then established

-Be Customer focused, providing support, guidance and problem resolution when needed

-Develop an in depth understanding of the competitive market and align sales strategies accordingly

-Effectively plan and manage time to maximize key sales opportunities

-Coordinate and conduct training on TitlePLUS® products and software

Job Location: Toronto

The ideal candidate should:

  • Knowledge of residential conveyancing, the procedures and workflow of a real estate law practice and title insurance
  • Have a university degree or a Law Clerk designation
  • Minimum two years of selling experience with proven abilities in prospecting and business growth
  • Ability to develop and sustain long term productive client relationships
  • Possess strong customer service skills that include building rapport, identifying needs and problem resolution
  • Excellent Presentation Skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage time
  • Be a team focused individual who is driven, service oriented, takes initiative and possesses strong communication skills
  • Have a high degree of computer literacy
  • A Valid Driver’s License and reliable vehicle are required
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel as required, as this position requires travel within Ontario
