IT Service Desk Analyst

 

Job Title: Articling Positons - 2017/2018: Reporting to Articling Principal

The Lawyers’ Professional Indemnity Company is offering two articling positions in Toronto for the 2017-2018 articling term.

Lawyers’ Professional Indemnity Company (LAWPRO®), a licensed insurance company wholly owned by the Law Society of Upper Canada, provides professional liability insurance to all practising Ontario lawyers. LAWPRO arranges for the legal defence of insured lawyers against whom an action has been commenced. LAWPRO also provides title insurance across Canada through its web-based TitlePLUS program, and optional run-off and excess professional liability insurance for lawyers.

The articling students complete two rotations in the LAWPRO articling program: one in each of the Primary Professional Liability Claims Department and the Office of the General Counsel. The Articling Students will be assigned a mentor in each rotation who will co-ordinate assignments and provide assistance and feedback.

The articling student will be responsible for:

-legal research and memoranda on all areas of law, with an emphasis on solicitors’ risk management and liability;

-assisting legal counsel with pleadings, research, motions, and trial preparation;

-preparing arbitration briefs and representing LAWPRO at arbitrations;

-attendance at client meetings, pre-trial conferences, mediations, discoveries and trial;

-assisting LAWPRO Executive and in-house counsel with corporate matters related to legal, compliance, underwriting and risk;

-legal research and memoranda related to real estate law as it pertains to underwriting TitlePLUS title insurance;

-assisting with researching and drafting articles and papers for publication and/or external presentation;

-participation in a comprehensive orientation program.

Job Location: Toronto

The ideal candidate should:

  • Be a law school graduate with excellent grades;
  • Have strong research, writing, and presentation skills;
  • Be conversant with MS Office and Westlaw;
  • Be energetic, detail-oriented, and consistently successful at meeting deadlines.

Job Title: IT Service Desk Analyst: Reporting to Operations Manager

LAWPRO has an immediate opening for two (2) IT Service Desk Analysts to assist in establishing a dedicated internal service desk function.

Key Responsibilities:

Working under the direction of the Operations Manager, you will act as the first point of contact for end users to receive technology support;

Respond quickly and professionally to requests received through the IT ticketing system;

Collaborate with end users and technology staff to identify and troubleshoot PC and IP telephony related issues;

Assist in onboarding new employees from a technology perspective (e.g. user account creation, rights assignment);

Participate in the installation and maintenance of all PC hardware, software, and other related equipment; and

Maintain a knowledge repository to capture resolution efforts.

Job Location: Downtown Toronto

The ideal candidate should:

  • Have a minimum of two (2) years experience working in an IT Service Desk;
  • Be experienced using common IT Service Desk tools (e.g. Service Now, Remedy);
  • Have in-depth knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and Windows 7/10 operating systems;
  • Possess knowledge of basic networking troubleshooting concepts;
  • Have understanding and experience isolating hardware issues and coordinating replacements;
  • Have experience utilizing desktop imaging tools and techniques (e.g. Ghost, Macrium);
  • Have knowledge of mobile devices, management tools and techniques;
  • Have knowledge of ITIL principles (e.g., change management, incident management); and
  • Have knowledge of BlackBerry, Android, and iOS operating systems.

It is preferred that the candidate:

    Have experience in any of the following technologies: Lotus Notes, Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT), VMware, System Center, McAfee EPO, Citrix, and Cisco IP Telephony;
    Have a College diploma and/or University degree in a relevant area (preferred);
    Have demonstrated ability and passion to learn new technologies;
    Be in pursuit of education/certification and preservation of knowledge in relevant areas of skill;
    Is adaptable, flexible and able to accept change;
    Have strong communication skills (speaking and writing) with a “client service” attitude in order to provide effective phone, desk-side, and email support; and
    Is able to meet physical demands - lifting and/or carrying ability of 15-30 lbs. or more.
